First Lady Rose Sanders

Unite with us in prayer as we reflect on the life of Mrs. Rose Sanders, 79 of 148 Silo Road, Dover, NC died on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at her residence.

Rose was born September 2, 1944, in Jones County to the late Alex Lofton and Fannie Mae Bruton Lofton. 

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Thurman Sanders of the home, seven children, Thurman ‘Ray’ Sanders Sr. and Antoinette Brown of Kinston, NC, Fannie Brown of Goldsboro, NC, Gregory Sanders of North Chesterfields, VA, Curtis Sanders of Lagrange, NC, Roosevelt Sanders and Joshua Sanders of Kinston, NC; one sister, Iris Maye of Kinston, NC; 29 grandchildren, and 38 great grandchildren. 

The Service Honoring her life and legacy will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 9, 2023, from the sanctuary of St. Augusta AME Zion Church, 318 North St, Kinston, NC

Burial will follow on Monday, September 11, 2023, in the Pinelawn Memorial Park. 

First lady Rose will lie in state from 6:00 PM 8:00 PM Friday, September 8, 2023, at the funeral home and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. 

Arrangements are by Trinity Funeral Service of Kinston.
