Mr. Ronald Bryant Obituary

God is the keeper of our mind and soul and even in times of grief and sorrow His love and strength can make us whole.

Unite with us in prayer as we reflect on the life of Mr. Ronald Bryant, 68, of LaGrange, NC, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at his residence.

We all called him “Ronnie” and he was born on May 3, 1955, in Lenoir County North Carolina to Clementine Dunn Bryant and the late James W. Bryant, Sr. Many people also knew Ronnie by the same nickname his father had, “Diesel”. Ronnie was the oldest of the seven siblings. Ronnie had been battling with cancer for more than a year and when his body could no longer fight, he departed this life on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. As a small child, Ronnie spent his early childhood in North Carolina until the family moved north to Baltimore, Maryland where he was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system and would go on to graduate from Merganthaler Vocational-Technical High School. For a short while he also attended Carver Vocational High School in Baltimore.

Ronnie enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corps and upon returning he met and married his sweetheart Mary Elaine Kirby in June of 1979. Two children were born to them, Ronald, Jr. known as “Bam-Bam”, and Leslie Elaine known as “Le-La”. Ronnie and Mary were married for 33 years when Mary fell asleep in the Lord in March of 2012. Sadly, his son “Bam” would also precede him in death in July of 2020.

Ronnie was very well known by all to be excellent at building remodeling, home improvement, and landscaping. This became his livelihood, and he created his company, Jack Masters, Inc. as he considered himself the “Jack of All Trades, yet a Master at None”. He worked both as an independent contractor and as a construction crew member for a variety of businesses. Many friends, family, and business associates alike can tell you of the many projects Ronnie worked on for them. He could just about build, repair, restore, or fix anything -- cars, houses, boats, landscapes, anything – you name it!

Ronnie was funny and made everybody laugh all the time. He had his moments where most anybody who knew him would tell you Ronnie could always be counted on to say or do something to make you do a double-take. With Ronnie, there was a lot of laughter and kidding, and a lot of affection too. You could always find him traveling around the country to different places visiting with his cousins and friends. Spiritually, Ronnie never hesitated to let it be known that he believed in God and that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior and held onto his faith until the end.

Ronnie leaves behind memories of him to his daughter, Leslie Elaine Bryant; his mother, Clementine “Teana” Bryant; Two sisters, Kandy Carr (Bill), and Kay Jones (Jason); Two brothers Michael Bryant (Nina) and Jimmy Bryant; a brother-in-law, Frank Kirby; two sisters-in-law, Lemuel “Sissy” Davis and Joyce R. Ross; three grandchildren, Ethan Buck, Kelise Lewis, and Zoey Edwards; his “Bonus” sister, Joy Bryant-Lewis; his goddaughter, Denisha Hamilton, and his special friend Angela Page (“Little Angie”) along with a whole host of nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family members, and many, many friends.
