Unite with us in prayer as we reflect on the life of Mrs. Shirley Carson, 81, of Pink Hill, NC, who died on Friday, September 26, 2025, at her residence.
She was born on March 1, 1944, in Lenoir County, North Carolina, to the late Clero and Lillie Dove.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Joseph L. Carson of the home; four children, Gregory Lawson of Ohio, Karen Thompson of Florida, Tyrus Petty of Georgia, and Angela Palmer of North Carolina; her godson, William Heighter of North Carolina; two brothers, Bernard Dove of Massachusetts and Joseph Dove of Georgia; one sister, Joan Perry of North Carolina; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
A service celebrating her life and legacy will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025, in the Memorial Chapel of Trinity Funeral Service, 1276 US Hwy 258 N, Kinston, NC.
Burial will follow at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Mrs. Carson will lie in state for public viewing from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the funeral home, and will also resume one hour prior to the service.
